Community activities (Sports days and Festivals) - Japanese Language School Kyoto Asuka Academia

We participated in a local event. The first one is sports day. They seemed nervous at first as they don’t usually have many opportunities to interact with local people, but we all had a great time competing and cheering together.

　　　

　 　

The second is the Sannomiya Festival. This year too, we were invited by the Sannomiya Shrine Mikoshi Association, and a group of student volunteers took part.

　　

They carry a one-ton portable shrine and parade through the town.

Thanks to the cheers of many people along the route, we were able to carry it all the way to the end.

　　　

With the cooperation of local residents, we were able to have a valuable cultural experience that could not be had at school. I hope that experiences like this will encourage them to deepen their interest in learning Japanese language and Japanese culture.
