THE FIRST VISIT TO THE SHRINE IN NEW YEAR - Japanese Language School Kyoto Asuka Academia

January 7th: First visit to a shrine. It is called 【初詣】【Hatsumode】in Japanese Language. Hatsumode is the Japanese custom of visiting a shrine or temple for the first time in the new year. At the beginning of the year, people express their gratitude to God/Buddha and pray for happiness and good health in the new year. Students at the Japanese language school also went to a nearby shrine for their first visit of the new year on the first day of school.

　　　

　　

　　

I hope my Japanese improves… I hope my family is healthy… Paying careful attention to the proper prayer etiquette, each person put their hands together and made their own wish.
